The "Committee in Formation" is growing...

The Steering Committee has been making follow up phone calls (I've actually been signing people up as I run into them on the street) and we are delighted to report that the Committee 150 "Committee in Formation" has nearly achieved our goal, with more than a week to go!

We hoped to have 25 parties or pledges in hand by the time we ordered stationery for our BIG MAILING which will go out in mid-May, prior to Historic Albany Foundation's Annual Meeting & Preservation Merit Awards.

As of 9 p.m. last night, the following individuals have joined Committee 150, either by agreeing to host a party raising $1,000 for the stabilization of the former St. Joseph's Church, or by donating $1,000 to the cause.

  • Erin Tobin Bearden & Roger Bearden
  • Matthew & Phoebe Bender
  • William Brandow
  • Mark Brogna
  • Christopher & Courtney Burke
  • Nancy Burton & Peter Leue
  • Bartley J. Costello
  • James Davies & Gordon Harris
  • Elizabeth Griffin & Jim Plastiras
  • Lori Harris
  • Hartgen Archeological Associates
  • Susan Holland
  • Mayor Gerald Jennings
  • Jocelyn Jerry
  • Charles Kuhtic
  • Assemblyman John McEneny
  • John McLennan
  • Gordon Mowbray
  • Heather Nowicki
  • Ellen Picotte
  • Colleen Ryan & Eric Hoppel

You can join Committee 150, too! Members are scheduling parties throughout the summer, with a goal of raising $1,000 at each party. Some will raise more, and some will raise less, but we'll all be part of the team that's working to save this magnificent structure.

Remember, all donations and party expenses are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Leave a message on Committee 150's voice mail if you'd like to join us ... 518-462-1900. Or drop us an e-mail. We hope you can help us put the FUN back in fundraising!!!

Getting the word out ...

On Monday evening, the Steering Committee is meeting to sign and send out 109 letters. We hope to get at least 25 people signed up to the Committee 150 "Committee in Formation" by Monday, May 8.

The first batch of letters is going to "the family" -- people who have been strong and generous supporters of the effort to save St. Joseph's in the past, elected officials, business leaders ... We need their early endorsement to create the groundswell that will make our effort a success!

The good news is, we already have verbal committment for about 10 parties. Once we sign up a few more, we'll start posting them on a calendar on our website. Which reminds me, I have to put the finishing touches on the website ...
